I recently joined the MIT Museum to manage the newly formed Science Festival Alliance.
Created with a three-year grant from the NSF, the SFA will support and encourage the growth of science festivals throughout the US.
Our first priority is to pull together a set of resources that will help professionals get started with a science festival in their community. Among those resources, we envision a communication structure that allows experienced festival organizers to share and collaborate. We don't plan to set standards so much as facilitate the exchange of ideas as different models for science festivals emerge. We also hope to work with national partners to connect festivals to regional resources, and when necessary help coordinate national advocacy for science festivals.

thanks a bunch.
Starting a group for Ohio Cafes sounds like a great idea. I'm definitely interested but have to admit that I'm not very familiar with how to get started! (I just started using facebook the other day and am feeling about 5 years behind the times :-) ). If you have some pointers or ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks for the help and encouragement,
Shawna
